The Iroquoia Club Needs You!


Writers, Editors, & Digital Photographers - Print & Online
The Iroquoia Club is looking for writers for both its quarterly newsletter "The Iroquoian" and its new volunteer blog: www.volunteeribtc.blogspot.com. No experience necessary, just the desire to communicate interesting and fun topics to volunteers & members.
Publications (Graphic Design & Desktop Publishing)
The Iroquoia Club is also looking for responsible, creative people to work as a team to produce its 20 page quarterly newsletter.

Volunteer Management & Membership Program Staff
Variety of positions available, including: IT/Computers, Graphic Design, Environmental Public Education, Human Resources, Leadership, Recruitment, Special Events, Teamwork, Program creation and planning, risk management. Depending on the position volunteers can work from home on their own time, &/or interact in person with members, volunteers and the general public.

Special Events Crew
We have a new group of volunteers who are "on call" to assist with special events. Though these volunteers may only assist with one or two events a year (or one a month), they are very much appreciated and needed! Invitations will be emailed out to all special events crew whenever help is needed. Volunteers can reply to invitations with either yes, no, or maybe that they will attend. This is the ultimate flexible volunteer position!

Duties can include assisting with events for: membership & volunteer recruitment, public education, publicity, family days, fundraising (such as trivia night) and social events for members and active volunteers. Volunteers can help "behind the scenes" or be a much needed extra person for busy events. Periodic in person training is provided, and we will be creating some online, one page "Answers to Frequently Asked Questions", that volunteers can read &/or print and take with them to events. 

This is a great position for thouse with a busy schedule &/or who want to start slowly with volunteering. All that is required is the desire to help, the desire to learn, the ability to work as part of a team and most of all to have fun! Special Events Crew are Special People!

Volunteer Management Assistants (4) 
Grimbsby, East Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville/Milton:
This position is similar to an HR assistant postion. Training provided, however applicants should be comfortable on the internet, have home computer and internet access and be comfortable meeting new people.
In conjunction with the Iroquoia BTC Volunteer Management Director, and members of the Volunteer Management Team the Assistants will: 
Assist with the recruitment, screening, orientation and training of new volunteers for the various vacancies in the Club.
Be the local contact person for volunteers in their region
Maintain volunteer online records in our Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar accounts. (Training...and coffee/tea/cider during training provided!)
Run (or supervise & delegate the running of) quarterly local volunteer social events.
Attend in-person and online meetings (approximately 2 times every 3 months)
Assist with volunteer retention.
Write short articles for our newsletter "The Iroquoian" and blog posts.
 
Volunteer Recruitment Assistant - Job Position Postings
In conjunction with the Iroquoia BTC Volunteer Management Director, assist with recruitment of new volunteers for the various vacancies in the Club. This position is similar to an HR recruitment assistant/administration assistant position.
Organize and maintain the volunteer job postings at Colleges, Universities, Career Centres and Libraries. (Mostly via email and online forms).


Hike Leaders & Assistant Hike Leaders
Themed hikes and hikes for ages 18-30, 25-35, & 30-40:
  • Set routes, arrange transportation and set pace on hike. 
  • Ensure all members of hike are accounted for and point out areas of interest to hike members.
  • Pre-hike route.
  • Read Volunteer Orientation Booklet & attend Volunteer orientation/training.
  • Promote membership and volunteering on all hikes (especially to ages 18-40).
  • Themes could include: Natural &/or Human history, transit accessible, family hikes, mommy/daddy & me, trail clean up, photography, birding, ...What ever the leader is interested in!
